The Federal Republic of Nigeria observes different sets of holidays as set aside by the two main religious bodies the Christians and Muslims. Some of these holidays are also estranged in the Nigerian constitution. Most of the holidays observed therein are fixed while others varies depending on when it is officially announced by either the government or supreme head of any of the religious bodies. Even though Nigeria is made up of two basic distinct religious structures, each mutually observes holidays declared by the other. The national democracy day MAY, 29TH is a day Nigerians set aside to commemorate the return of Nigeria to democracy. It is regarded as the most important of all the national holidays
aside from the Independence Day. Below are list of important dates of public holidays in Nigeria.
