President Goodluck Jonathan recently made some changes to his cabinet.The former minister of power Prof. Bath Nnaji willfully resigned paving the way for the president to nominate a former vice chancellor of one of the Nigerian University Prof. Chinedu Nebo to take over as a minister of the most dreaded power sector. Highlight below are the list of the current ministers updated as at 6/1/2013. The process of nominating ministers in a large country like Nigeria in a rigorous one. 


Each state of the federation sends a nominee by its governor to the presidency a name of carefully selected candidates for consideration. The president forwards the names of such candidate to the senate for screening and confirmation. The process of screening in the senate is rigorous one that sees each ministerial nominee undergoing a tough session of questions and answers.


Only the senate is vested with the power to carry out the ministerial screening processes.  If a nominee is successfully screened in the senate, he or she immediately assumes duty as a substantive minister of the federal republic of Nigeria. The basic role of a minister is to oversee the operations and functionality of its various ministries. The minister is deputized by the various permanent secretaries of each ministry.

 The fundamental human right as cited in the Nigerian constitution under chapter 4 of the 1999 constitution clearly enumerates the various basic rights every Nigerian citizen ought to enjoy. These rights provide basic insights to what anyone living within the territory of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should know about his freedom to associate, religion, personal liberty, etc. Below are the some of the fundamental rights you should be abreast with to ensure you stand up for your right whenever you need to.
